Fal and Helford Wreck Map and Database

To help raise awareness and quantify the scale of the problem we have created the Fal and Helford wreck map and database. Please help by entering abanonded boats you come across whilst you are out on the water or walking the dog.

How to use the wreck map

To register as a user and enter a wreck:

1. Click on the Report a Wreck buttom above

2. This takes you through to map.wreckfree.org

3. Click on ‘Register’ in the top right corner and fill out registration form

4. Open verification email which will have been sent (check junk mail) and follow instructions to verify your email

5. Go back to map.wreckfree.org and click on ‘login’ in top right corner

6. To enter a wreck, tap the map in the location of the wreck and fill out the form. If you get the location wrong just tap again in the right place. If you are using your phone it is a light tap with your finger, not a press and hold. You can move the map with 2 fingers.

Before entering a boat please check it has not already been entered.

Wreck Free Fal and Helford does not have any powers to remove abandoned boats. The information will be shared with the relevant authorities for the area. The Wreck Map is 'crowd sourced' and shows boats which appear to be abandoned. If your boat has been wrongly identified as abandoned please send an email to info@wreckfree.org

About the wreck map

The Fal and Helford Wreck Map was created pro-bono by a brilliant volunteer coder. It has been developed on an open source basis. If you would like to use the wreck map to map abandoned boats in your area please get in touch.
