Friends of Mylor Creek

The Mylor Bridge community set up Friends of Mylor Creek in 2023 following concerns by villagers about water pollution and abandoned boats. Pat Wilmore explains:

‘We were delighted that there are others out there who recognise the abandoned boat problem and are determined to take action, and, equally, horrified at the extent of the problem.

We are busy trying to get the wrecks in Mylor Creek onto the Wreck Free Fal and Helford map but there are sadly many more than we at first thought.

We have had modest success in removing some old boats – mainly wooden dinghies. Truro Harbour Authority has agreed to remove some wrecks following due process and we have had a few offers from people willing to take on some of the unloved but restorable boats.

We know there is no overnight fix but we will hopefully start to see some progress in the near future."
